Roast Beef Sandwiches for Football Party

Ah yes, its becoming that time of year to begin to think about.....football! Kids playing football in school. College football starting up again soon. And then there is the NFL!

Being from Cleveland, Ohio I watch the Browns. Rumor has it that they will make the playoffs! Being from Cleveland, we can only hope! The Cleveland Browns are an exciting team to watch, great football but we haven't won a superbowl; have we even played in one?

If your family is like mine, we love to watch football on Sundays and invite friends and family over for a great football party. One of my favorite things to serve at these parties is roast beef, sandwiches that is! They are so tender and so yummy, everyone loves them...so make a lot because most everyone will want more than one.

Here's my recipe. So very easy too. I am all about that!

Roast Beef Sandwiches
  • 1 3 -4 Lb beef brisket
  • 1 pkg Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 6 -8 hoagie rolls
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese
  • horesradish sauce
  1. Line baking pan with foil leaving enough overlapping to seal up tightly. Place beef brisket in foil lined pan with fat side up. Top with ½ to all of the onion soup mix to your taste. Do not put any liquid in the pan.
  2. Seal in foil and place in 170 degree oven overnight or until fork tender (approx 8 to 10 hours). Or bake at 350 for 3-4 hours.
  3. Remove meat to a platter to cool some and reserve juice. Mix broth with juices in serving pan. Slice meat thinly against grain and return to juice.
  4. Split hoagie rolls and add cheese and meat. Broil for 2 to 3 minutes until cheese is melted and roll is slightly brown. Serve with extra juice on side, and horseradish on the side for those that like it.

These are great! I have served them with raw veggies and dip and chips. Delish!
